France will introduce a ban on the production and sale of cosmetics and most clothing containing polluting and health-threatening “forever chemicals” on Thursday, 1 January 2026. The application details were set out in a decree published on 30 December in the Official Journal of the French Republic, which notably provides for a 12-month grace period for existing stocks.
