CTPA Publishes Guidance to Help Parents Navigate Children’s Growing Skincare Habits

I

THE WHAT? The CTPA has launched SkinCare Simplified – A Parent’s Guide to support parents as skincare interest grows among children aged 8–14.

THE DETAILS With 42% of parents in the UK saying their child knows more about skincare than they do, and most now having regular skincare conversations at home, the CTPA has released new guidance developed with Consultant Dermatologist Dr Anjali Mahto. The advice strongly discourages the use of anti-ageing products and complex routines on young skin, instead recommending gentle cleansing, lightweight moisturising and appropriate sun protection.

Parents report concerns around social media influence, product overuse and age-inappropriate formulas, while more than half of children now select the products they want. The guide offers clear, practical information and downloadable infographics to help families navigate these pressures and establish healthy skincare habits

THE WHY?  Rising skincare trends among young people are creating uncertainty for families, highlighting the need for trusted, age-appropriate guidance.
